YO.
Kay, these peektures are EPIC FAILS. Everyone is always looking in different directions.
AND BTW, WE ROCK KAY. Cos of the GOLDDDDDD. We were utterly euphoric.
IJ girls gotta be more sensitive though, not scream so much when there are other bands cos hey, not everyone got a Gold right? Well, at least Percs weren't so INYOURFACE. HAHA.
Kay peektures. That were epic fails. Most of em. Hope you've enjoyed em. HAHAAH. Omg so commercialised, that statement.
OH AND I'M SORRY THAT THEY'RE SMALL. I just remembered that I wanted to change it... A bit late. Heh.
We all gotta work hard for the EoY concert and next year's overseas trip kay? We gotta make all our seniors proud, and talking about EoY and Next year, that includes our much loved SL now, MONICA. haha. =)

GOLDDDDDD!!!

happy like mad right? hahah, me too!!!!!
and i just wanna say that athough today wasn't our best performance, this gold is for all our hard work. everybody's (:

BIG THANK YOU LETTER:

One and only GOD! this is the first competition that perc ever prayed so much together. hahah. more than three times today man. God is good, Praise the Lord!!! (:
Today was a miracle. really. THE POWER OF BELIEVING.

kk.

Firstly, to my one and only section
PERCUSSSSSSSSSIONNNNNNN (:
yeah, i know that i've scolded yall so many times and all. forever nagging at yall to lift higher, play louder, watch the conductor, not to talk during band prac, not to slack during sectionals. yall must hate me by now :X oops. hahah, no matter what, i guess yall have realised that hard work pays off. and each and every one of you has improved. TOADLOADS. seriously. hahahh. so be happy! and remember that even after I leave yall, PERCUSSION WILL GET THROUGH ANYTHING. ANYTHING, AS LONG AS WE REMAIN UNITED.
like this year :D no conflicts/major issues. hee. thanks for being an awesome section.
and a big SORRRRYY for all those times i scolded yall and became upset. it's all done with good intentions in mind, kk?

and i'm finally saying this:
I'M SO PROUD OF EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU. AWESOMEEEE JOB! :D
ah, we rock.

Second is definitely to the seniors!!
Old, new, young, greying...hahahah
we wouldn't have gotten the gold without your teachings since we were sec 1 and even before!
and those who came so many times to help us out (: yall are seriously awesome!
PERC SENIORS, WE LOVE YOU!

Thirdly, Mr Clarence Tan!
Hahah, although perc has been called out a lot of time during pracs, i guess we're all really grateful for his guidance right? hee. and his encouragement after today's performance. really really nice conductor (:
{will he read this? maybe we should write a letter to him}

Fourthly, Mr Leonard Tan!
His message to us backstage al the way from Indiana conveyed by some random guy was the bomb, hahahh. and his ever encouraging messages. and his kindness, even helping us out all the way from the US! if not for us, this gold is at least for our two fabulous conductors, the MR TAN DUOS. hahah. two awesome music teachers (:

Fifthly, Teachers-in-charge!
HAHAHAH. i can read many of your minds now. ah, although we're always picked on, for playing too soft, for hair, nails and i dunno-what-else, Mr Chan, Mr Tang, Mrs Kwan and Miss (?, sorry i'm not sure) have been supportive and really dedicated. hahah, band teachers are funky, i suppose. mmhmm.

Next, IJ BANDDDDD!
we love ij band! we truly have the spirit, it's not lost. and honestly, today our band moved a lot. like mad (: we rock. GOLD :D good job!

Lastly, all our well wishers. our friends, teachers (special mention to Miss Tan), parents and all folks out there. thanks for your prayers and "good luck"s :D

sorry if i misssed anyone out.

SWENSONS DINNER ALL. MY TREAT! (: BUT the budget is 100 bucks only. HAHAH.
is saturday night okay? tag. all seniors and juniors are invited! :DDDD

MONICA (:

BOO.
Please scream. =)

Hey hey, guess who. I'm the Percussion screamer! And starer. HEH. It's a habit luh.

OK, tomorrow is... SYF day. One thing, be glad that we're on the FIRST day and not any other day. Because WE set the standard and not have to reach a certain one set by other bands, some of which may or may not be Gold or GwH bands. We just have to give it all we have, our best shot and hope it'd be good. Focus focus. We set aside everything else we have on our minds, just for that half an hour. The minutes before our performance and especially during the performance.
Oh no wait, from the time we are in the bus too.

Being mentally prepared is extremely important because if we are not mentally prepared, standing on that stage is going to turn ourselves into a nervous wreck, yes? Just that little while and then we can let everything go. It'd be over. And as we've heard so many times, just do our best and whatever the result, at least we did our best. =)
I know y'all can do it kay. We've done the same two songs over and over. It is etched in our brains already. We just need to tune out all distractions and just think about the SYF and putting in our months of practice into achieving something!
C'mon, we can definitely do it. We've improved SO MUCH along the way, now we can reap what we've sown.
We have it in us, we just have to bring it out in our music.
We move, we watch, we play, we win. I know we can do it, we can, really. We just gotta believe that we can.
Tomorrow, no one can say "cannot luh, I cannot I cannot". I know what stage fright feels like and stuff like that, but tomorrow we gotta put it all aside.
Just remember that we CAN do it. Affirmative.

These few months have been a good experience eh?  At least we've all grown in some way or another, from all this.

Just believe, and everything will be alright. ;D

HELLO PERCS!

kk, morning assembly roster (:

30th March 2008

Majulah Singapura

Snare - Monica
Bass - Heather
Crash -Xinyi
Suspended - Kiaying

School song

Snare - Zena
Bass - Crystal
Crash - Shannen

yup :D

SYF's tmr folks. Ah, all our hard work for the past dunno-how-many months.
May our efforts be fruitful. And remember 2 things. Most important.

1. MOVE!
hahah, i know its very hard for percs to move without looking weird or retarded but as everyone says, IJ Band's forte is that we are a VISUAL BAND. especially since percs can be seen way too clearly by the judges. so just move even when you're not playing. WE'LL BOB OUR HEADS AND LIFT OUR STICKS (mallets!) AND BE INVOLVED IN THE MUSIC ESPECIALLY AT THE TWO Hs. yeah? but pls remember that they're musical moves not dance moves.

2. WATCH!
98% conductor, 2% score or mallet/drum head. mmhmm. all our focus on Mr Tan tmr kk? We can surely play well as long as we're in sync with the band. so keep looking up and listen to the other sections too. try and adjust vol if too soft/too loud. yeap.

Parts to generally play louder:
timpani
mallets
snare (at E)

Parts to generally play softer:
Crash
Snare (at A)

Remember what Mr L Tan said?
"PRACTICE LIKE YOU'RE THE LOUSIEST, PLAY LIKE YOU'RE THE BEST"
We've prac-ed all we can alr. so tmr, we're the best.
IJ BAND IS THE BEST AND NOBODY CAN STOP US FROM PLAYING TREMENDOUSLY AND SUPERBLY WELL (:
just try your best. and rmb to listen to the two recordings today!
and sleep by 10pm (not my command). hahhahah.

kk, off.
see yall tmr, peeps!

SYF IN ABOUT26 HOURS TIME :O

update!
Friday, March 20, 2009
sorryy for not posting for so long.
i think the last time i posted was when i'm sec one :O

its because i forgot the password :X
sorrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy,
anyways monica bugged me to post. haha

BTW- we have new timpani stickss :D
its 4 actually--
from articulate to rollersss :)

sir says its 60-80 bucks each :D

so we're rich(i supppose?)

anyways the exchange rocked :D
we did so so so much better than the other time at SJI
which was bleeeehhhhh
and although the instruments were so old (mallets were uneven, drumset smelled of valve oil, timpani "panel" was lateral instead of vertical and had masking tape) we did wellll :D

but of COURSE there's room for improvement!
special mention to Shannen and Heather: both of you improved the most.
shannen could keep up and memorize the last two bars (thanks to my counselling skills! :D ) and heather made an effort to pin her hair and watched better (:

bravos both of you;

anywayss.
band camp (the official stayover one) starts today!
so excitingngngngngng!
bet we're gonna have loads of fun.
remember to bring all your stufffff (:
i bet crystal's gonna bring that milo chocolate :D

yummayyyeeeeeeee

oh and yesterdays dinner was FUN:D
kiaying and heather!!
you missed out :O
but its okay there's still other chances!

we went to KFC and monica was acting all pro and asked us who was the founder of KFC.

zena shannen crystal and rena remained silent. (don't ask whyy)
and i said: C something(which was right (: ) haha. shall not go on about my egoness.
anyways she said COLONEL SANDERS. or something like that.
weird rights? thats monica..

so smart eh?
me too:Kentucky Fried Chicken, pioneered by Colonel Harland Sanders, has grown to become one of the largest quick service food service systems in the world - with more than a billion "finger lickin' good" Kentucky Fried Chicken dinners served annually in more than 80 countries and territories. But success didn't come easily.
In 1896 Harland's father died, forcing his mother to enter the workforce to support the family. At the tender age of six, young Harlan was responsible for taking care of his younger siblings and doing much of the family's cooking. A year later he was already a master of several regional dishes. Over the course of the next 30 years, Sanders held jobs ranging from streetcar conductor to insurance salesman, but throughout it all his skill as a cook remained.

sorry waste of space but yea, talk about history (smug look)
HAHA, that was from the KFC.com by the way, OHOH and here's his dashing photo:
so dashing you all can continue to daydream:D
byes!
oh yeash: whoever wants the crazy pictures yesterday can ask me :D
- ciao!

MORNING ASSEMBLY - 23RD FEB 2009

Majulah Singapure
Snare - Xinyi
Bass - Shannen
Crash - Kia Ying
Suspended - Monica

School Song
Snare - Crystal
Bass - Zena
Crash - Rena

kk, percs. honestly, i think we all also agree that we're dragging the band down, especially for overture 1. but i guess like what they said, this shall be our wake-up call. deep down, i know all of you wanna play well also. so why dont we just do it? why dont we just prac our butts off for the next three weeks and reap the rewards on 30th march? i know we can do it, we've done it before. like SECTION COMP! hahah, even we didnt think we could even be in the top three. but hey! who's runner up? PERCUSSION! (: yeah, we can and WE WILL. somehow, someway. we will focus with all our might during pracs, exchange and for SYF and prac with the metronome until we can play perfectly. 100% CORRECT AND IN TEMPO. we will be satisfied with nothing less. we'l achieve excellence. and to do that, first, we'll accept that we suck. and we'l change that by practising and WATCHING. that's the only way to prove ourselves both to the band and to the ppl who r judging us.

so in short, WE'RE GOING TO WORK AND WORK TILL WE GET IT ALL RIGHT. yes? and it wont work if some prac and others slack or day-dream or think they play well enough. cause we're all one section. one person's mistake is the entire section's mistake. so we wont drag each other down and we will ALL work together to make IJ band a GOLD band. not cop, not bronze, not silver. GOLDDDDDDDD. although we cant smell the gold yet, it'll be right in our hands on 30th march. we'll do everything it takes to play well, at least to our own expectations.

IF WE SET OUR MIND TO IT, WE CAN ACHIEVE IT. CAUSE WHAT'S IMPOSSIBLE?
NOTHING!

Monica :D
